Local business, local art, local pride – Boogie on the Bricks is a yearly summer kick-off in the Athens community. An event unique to our little nook in Southeast Ohio, Boogie is basically a pop-up music festival – it’s exactly 10 hours long.
One Saturday each June, Court Street is closed to traffic, and the whole town comes together for a fun-packed day of local food, wares, art, musicians, and more. There’s even a kids’ zone to keep the little ones occupied with their own festival fun. And it’s totally free and open to the public.
What to Expect at Boogie on the Bricks This Year
There are some beloved bands, businesses and vendors we often see at Boogie on the Bricks. Three highlights include:
- Jewelry artist Cricket Jones repurposes vintage sterling silverware into unique and intricate piece of jewelry. She’s especially known for her spoon and fork rings – check out her Instagram, @cricketjonesjewelry.
- Dr. May’s Thai Kitchen’s food truck is a must at Boogie. Authentic Thai street food by a Thai chef? Yes, Please! You can check out her restaurant location or catch her at the Athens Farmer’s Market!
- Megan Bee is a household name in our region when it comes to homespun Appalachian acoustic guitar. She’s a soulful singer and songwriter you can find in venues all over Southeast Ohio.
Looking for a way to get involved in local life? You can also find booths for many of our community organizations, including Southeastern Ohio Rainbow Alliance (SEORA), Bobcats for Ukraine and The Cannabis Museum.Check out the pics from last year and get hyped – it’s right around the corner!
