Come to the Original Ohio Brew Week in Athens This July 12-20!

Brew week is a town-wide tradition in Athens – we’re the OG Brew Week – don’t let the copycats fool you. Head uptown to find great food, craft beers, fun times and friends.

What is Ohio Brew Week?

This week-long beer-fest was born out of a core Athens value: uplifting and supporting our local businesses. Ohio Brew Week was born in 2005 to solve the confluence of summer problems: the students leave, which means there are 20,000 less people eating and drinking uptown, and there’s no steady attraction for everyone to be uptown. Brew Week is a way to basically blitz a bunch of business back into our local enterprises so that their summer is just as stress-free as all those out-of-school OU students.

What to Expect at Brew Week This Year?

Virtually all the bars and restaurants in Athens participate in OBW each year. Last year there were well over 40 breweries and hundreds of types of beers, not to mention all the great local food during the uptown street festival. Local breweries you can expect will have some seriously unique craft beers, ales, liquors, ciders, and more include:

  • Devil’s Kettle
  • Dutch Creek Winery
  • Jackie O’s (Taproom & Brewpub)
  • Little Fish
  • West End Ciderhouse
  • West End Distillery

And then there are some favorite local spots for eats that always make sure to stock up on craft ales for Brew Week, including:

  • Casa Nueva
  • Eclipse
  • Jackie O’s (Public House)
  • Pigskin
  • Sol
  • North End

And You Get to Drink Outside!

Two of our favorite things about Brew Week are DORA and the bike path. Get a few friends together for a bike-and-brew and explore some of the venues we listed above. Or stay uptown within the DORA boundaries and walk around with a beer in-hand – totally legal.

Check out all these venues for Brew Week tastings, live music, activities, games, and other fun stuff to do. Get out of the house, get outside and experience Athens’ summer vibes!
