Where and When: Ping Student Rec Center, April 3rd, 8am-4pm
A scary part of reaching the end of your college career is the whole professional career part that comes after. And no matter how great a student teacher you might be, there’s a lot that’s different about professional culture of teaching than academic culture of learning to teach. Networking, handshakes, understanding how to be professional and friendly at the same time – someone help!
Enter: the Education Career Fair that the Patton College of Education throws each spring. It’s a day full of all those things you need to know - how to speak “job”, if you will. In the morning, there’s open networking and interview signups, so you can start your day looking around at different opportunities and deciding the best direction for you.
After a short break, most of the day is then spent doing all those interviews you signed up for. Patton College gathers representatives of schools and school districts across the country for this event, so if you’re looking to enter the teaching world after graduation, this is a potentially-invaluable experience.Note: This is an all-day thing, not a come-and-go situation. It’s recommended to show up by 830am so you have ample time to look around and sign up for afternoon interview slots. Learn more at OU’s posting.
