OU’s International Week is one of the most vibrant weeks on campus green and uptown Athens – not just because of all the cool things to experience, but visually as well. Colorful clothes, wares, music, flags and foods of the different cultures represented in OU’s student body. In some form, it’s been celebrated since 1969, officially becoming an annual week-long affair in 1979, and celebrated in conjunction with the city as of 1982.
A great way to kick off spring and welcome the nearing of semester close, International Week offers kids and family activities, educational talks, live performances, delicious international foods, and an awesome street fair on the bricks of Court Street. Every year, the students come up with new, beautiful and poignant ways to create immersive, educational international experiences that benefit the student and resident culture of this small Ohio town. Definitely not something to be missed.
