Athens Rentals

It seems like everything but classes slows down in the winter. Why go to the bars when it’s 20 and windy out? And those daily bike trail runs in cloudy sleet? No thanks.

We all love a student rental with air conditioning – things get hot and humid in the summers. But it’s not like you can replace windows, upgrade your thermostat, or otherwise alter the house – you’re renting it after all.

When you’re on the hunt for a new apartment for the upcoming academic year, it’s pretty typical to count heads and search for the equivalent number of bedrooms. Squad’s made up of 4 people? Pick a 4 bedroom. 5 people? A five bedroom house. 3 bedrooms? – Okay; I think we all get it.

Everybody loves being in love, and college relationships tend to be hot and heavy, not to mention, fun! You’ve always got a buddy to eat with, Netflix-and-chill with, party uptown with…. and hopefully study with.

Anyone who’s lived in an Ohio town with a state university will tell you that they’re notorious for high rent rates, as compared to towns without a university. Have you ever wondered if that’s true of Athens rental housing?

There’s not a lot worse than signing a lease on a new student rental only to find out later that you really should have read your lease better.

Whether you’re moving into an uptown house or apartment, making sure you’ve got the essential tools that will make your off-campus rental a home is key to having a great experience living in Athens. Some things seem obvious, but others may not.

Even in the coolest of Athens student living, rental apartments and houses are still mostly in neutral colors with neutral flooring.

For those of us who choose to live with friends or family during our time at Ohio University, when you go to look for the best places to rent in Athens, the big question arises: How many bedrooms should our rental have?

Some people look for apartments when they want to rent near uptown Athens, and some people look for houses. There’s a bit more to an 8-bedroom rental house than a 3-bedroom apartment unit, and you want to ensure you make the choice that’s best for you and your friends.
